Job summary

Avanti Grange Secondary School in Bishop's Stortford is seeking an organised Librarian and Resource Manager to lead the development and management of our library, reprographics provision and wider learning resources.

You will work with teachers to support the curriculum, develop information literacy, and champion reading for pleasure in an inclusive, welcoming library environment where students grow as confident, independent learners.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English or equivalent.
• Knowledge and understanding of library and information skills.
• Knowledge and commitment to equality and diversity issues in library services.
• Awareness of child development and reading as a learning tool.
• Commitment to safeguarding and welfare of all students.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop the school library, reprographics room and wider learning resources.
• Source high-quality resources with staff, support information literacy and copyright.
• Lead initiatives to promote reading for pleasure and independent study.
• Select, acquire, catalogue and review resources, manage the library budget and ICT usage.
• Recruit, train and supervise pupil librarians and volunteers; inform senior leaders and parents.
