Job summary

The London Borough of Hounslow is seeking a friendly Community & Library Assistant to join our Localities and Community Hubs team on a 27-hour fixed-term contract for 12 months. The role is primarily based at the Chiswick Hub, with flexibility to work across 11 community hubs and libraries within the borough.

You will deliver excellent customer service, support residents to access library, digital and community services, assist with events and activities for children and families, and help

Qualifications

• Customer-focused and friendly approach to service delivery.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Comfort with IT systems and library software.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and adapt in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engagement activities such as Rhymetime, Storytime, and craft sessions.
• Help residents access library, digital and community services.
• Provide high-quality customer service and support at the library and hub spaces.
• Maintain displays, promote sessions and manage bookings.
• Contribute to events and activities for children and families.
