Job summary

The London Borough of Newham is seeking a Library Assistant for 30 hours per week across our Newham Libraries. The role involves helping customers, shelving, digital support, information provision and running events such as Under 5s storytimes.

You will contribute to delivering a high quality library service across 10 libraries with extensive opening hours. The successful candidate will have excellent customer care skills, enjoy helping people, love books, and be comfortable with literacy,

Qualifications

• Experience in libraries or other customer-focused roles.
• Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
• Love reading and talking about books with the public.
• Able to assist with digital services and events.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with transactions and shelving of books and displays.
• Provide digital assistance and basic digital skills sessions.
• Run or support events and activities including Under 5s storytimes.
• Support outreach activities or resident forums as needed.
