Library Café Kitchen Lead – Weekend Flex & Events

Job summary

The postholder will assist with running the catering service within Rotherham’s New Central Library, delivering meals for the public, students and events. The role involves preparing, cooking, and serving meals in line with approved menus and portion guidelines.

You will work as part of a team to provide a high-quality service, including weekends and occasional unsociable hours, with opportunities to contribute to menu development and marketing content for the café and conference catering.

Responsibilities

• Maintain good order of the Kitchen and servery equipment and preparation areas.
• Organise and co-ordinate the production, supply and service of all food and beverages in line with customer demands and procedures.
• Supervise the ordering and delivery of goods ensuring all deliveries are correctly unloaded, stored and recorded correctly.
• Supervise and line manage Assistant cooks / casual assistant cooks.
• Undertake preparation and cooking food and maintain a hygienic working environment to standards agreed with the Venue Manager.
• Maintain standards in food presentation and service, always ensuring compliance with Health and Safety Regulations.
• Maintain the cleanliness of all food storage, production and service areas, equipment and utensils.
• Update risk assessments and servicing of equipment and facilities.
• Carry out temperature checks on equipment, and food stock and ensure the results are accurately recorded.
• Assist with developing, producing and implementing menus for the café and conference catering at the park.
• Assist with the marketing content and publicity material for the catering service menu with the park team.
• Handle and reconcile payments in accordance with agreed financial procedures.
