Job summary

St John's C.E. Middle School Academy is seeking a dedicated Librarian to develop our school library as a vibrant learning hub for Key Stage 2 and 3. The role focuses on promoting reading for pleasure, organising resources, and supporting curriculum literacy with teachers and pupils.

The successful candidate will create an welcoming library, manage collections, and run reading events to engage students across the school year.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate enthusiasm for children's literature and reading for pleasure.
• Be organised and proactive in managing a busy library environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with young people.
• Support curriculum learning and literacy initiatives in collaboration with teachers.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming, organised and engaging library that supports learning and enrichment.
• Assist pupils in choosing reading materials and developing independent research skills.
• Collaborate with teachers to support literacy across the curriculum.
• Organise reading events, author visits, book fairs and library displays.
• Develop opportunities for pupil access to the library beyond timetabled lessons.
