Job summary

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Liaison and Diversion Practitioner to support a court and police custody service for adults and young people. You will assess, triage and signpost to mental health and social care services within a dynamic criminal justice pathway.

The role focuses on early intervention, risk assessment and collaborative working with custody staff, police and health partners, with opportunities for career development and mentoring.

Qualifications

• Healthcare professional registered with the appropriate regulatory body.
• Experience in liaising with police custody and court services is desirable.
• Ability to work with adults and young people in a criminal justice context.

Responsibilities

• Proactive screening of cases in police custody or at court.
• On-the-day triage and assessment including risk and mental state evaluations.
• Provide onward referrals and signposting to appropriate care services.
• Prepare written assessment summaries for police, court and agencies.
• Liaise with CAMHS, YOT and other relevant bodies during screening.
• Record data for regular auditing and service evaluation.
