Job summary

Oldham Council is seeking an HGV Driver in the Waste Management team based at Moorhey Street, Oldham. The role covers safe collection of waste from domestic and business properties, requiring a clean LGV licence and LGV driving experience in waste collection.

You will operate and maintain vehicles, perform safety checks, and comply with health and safety policies and codes. The post is permanent, 36 hours 40 minutes weekly over four days, with a closing date of 27 September 2026.

Qualifications

• Clean LGV driving licence is required.
• Experience of driving LGV in waste collection duties.
• Experience supervising a small group of manual workers.
• Ability to walk long distances and perform manual handling.
• Ability to follow health & safety policies at all times.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and safety-check allocated vehicle and equipment at start/end of shift.
• Adhere to Driver Manual and Driver Code of Conduct.
• Report crew accidents or incidents promptly to managers.
• Collect and tip all correct waste within the allocated round and operate that round.
