Job summary

Nixon Hire is seeking a focused LGV Class 2 Driver to join our team in the Bedford area. You will deliver and collect company units and equipment, plan routes for fuel efficiency, and ensure all documentation is completed accurately.

A valid Class 2 licence and at least 2 years of commercial driving experience are required. You will work to safety procedures, conduct daily vehicle checks, and respond to overtime needs as required.

Qualifications

• C+E driving licence is essential.
• At least 2 years' commercial driving experience.
• Good geographical knowledge of local areas.
• Customer-focused with professional driving standards.
• Good physical health; able to handle a physically demanding role.
• Flexible to overtime and adherence to safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Delivering/collecting the company’s units and equipment to its customers, at the right location, at the time required, with efficient fuel use.
• Inspecting all units and equipment on collection, recording damage or dirtiness.
• Ensuring all paperwork is completed correctly to avoid disputes.
• Driving company vehicles safely and in compliance with driving hours and tachograph requirements.
• Operating lifting equipment safely and ensuring axle weights are not exceeded.
• Daily checks of vehicle and lifting equipment, reporting defects.

About You!

• C+EDriving Licence is essential.
• You will be a competent driver with at least 2 years commercial driving experience.
• A good geographicalknowledge of the local and surrounding areas.
• Your customer focused experience and expertise will underpin your ability to deliver this role fully.
• Good physical health is required as this can be a physically demanding role at times.
• Flexible in your approach to work, able to work reasonable overtime if required, and adhere to all health & safety practice.

About the Role!

• Delivering/collecting the company’s units and equipment to its customers, at the right location, at the time required, having planned such delivery to achieve optimum fuel consumption and most efficient use of driver time.
• Inspecting all units and equipment on collection to ensure it is in good order, recording all visible damage, excessive dirtiness, missing items etc.
• Ensuring all necessary company paperwork is completed in the correct manner to avoid disputes at a later date i.e. signatures obtained for time of delivery / collection, damage sustained or missing plant.
• Driving company vehicles in a safe, courteous and responsible manner, including operating within the necessary transport regulations with regard to driving hours, operating tacograph according to Ministry of Transport requirements
• Operating all lifting equipment in a safe manner and in accordance with all Company Safety Directives and method statements. Loading and unloading plant and equipment in accordance with safe practice, the Company’s Safety Directives and Method Statements. Ensuring axle weights are not exceeded.
• Carrying out daily checks of vehicle and any lifting / holding equipment (including straps and chains), recording any defects and reporting them to the Foreman / Depot Manager / Fleet Manager.
