Job summary

Tarmac Contracting is seeking a reliable LGV Driver (Category C) to join our Agecroft site in Salford. You will be responsible for daily operations supporting the site, driving bitumen spray tanker in the North West, and ensuring loads are secure and compliant with driving regulations.

The role offers night and weekend shifts with enhanced rates, a clear path for development, and access to benefits including a contributory pension and holiday entitlement.

Qualifications

• LGV (HGV) Category C licence required.
• Digital Tacho Card and CPC Qualification.
• ADR certification advantageous.
• Experience in heavy industry.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety policies.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility for nights and weekends.
• Self-motivated and safety-focused.

Responsibilities

• Operate LGV (HGV) Category C and other noted vehicles in the North West.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects.
• Ensure loads are secure and journeys are compliant with regulations.
• Coordinate with Transport Manager and site team on driving issues.
• Work safely and in line with driving regulations.

Job description

Duties will include the day-to-day operations in support of the site including:

• Driving bitumen spray tanker across the North West region
• Occasionally driving other Category C vehicles
• Ensuring that the lorry and ancillaries are checked regularly and that any defects noted and highlighted to Fitter and office
• Ensuring that any journeys are undertaken safely and legally and that the loads checked and secure
• Liaising with the Plant Coordinator and Gang Foreman regularly and working together as a team
• Working safely and in conjunction with current Driving Regulations
• Complying with company standards and procedures - engaging with the Transport Manager who will check details, provide feedback and help with any driving issues
  LGV (HGV) Class 2 licence
• A valid Digital Tacho Card
• A valid CPC Qualification Card
• Experience gained within similar role/heavy industry
• Knowledge of Health and Safety policies and procedures
• A positive attitude to work, and be flexible and adaptable in their working approach
• Self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and as part of the wider team
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• ADR - Carriage of Dangerous Goods certification (advantageous)
• Heavy mobile Plant loading experience (advantageous)
