Job summary

QS Recruitment Ltd is seeking experienced HGV Class 1 drivers for night shifts in Derby. This temp-to-perm role involves temperature-controlled trunking with inductions available and PAYE weekly pay.

You will drive articulated lorries, monitor refrigeration units, and ensure compliance with WTD and safety policies while maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• Full UK Driving Licence with HGV1 (C+E) entitlement.
• Minimum 12 months continuous experience driving articulated lorries in the UK
• Valid Digi card
• Valid Driver CPC Card
• Good understanding of driver’s working hours and working time directive
• Must have no more than 6 points on licence

Responsibilities

• Complete temperature-controlled deliveries safely and efficiently.
• Trunk loads between RDCs and NDCs; no multi-drop deliveries.
• Seal and unseal vehicle rear doors per procedures.
• Monitor refrigeration units and maintain temperatures.
• Report temperature discrepancies to depot.
• Safely couple/uncouple trailers.
• Supervise loading/unloading of goods.
• Maintain delivery paperwork and records.
• Adhere to road transport legislation and safety policies.
• Complete vehicle/trailer checks and report defects.

Job Description

Great opportunity for LGV (C+E) Drivers to join an established team in Derby. Inductions available immediately, PAYE weekly pay!

We are currently recruiting for experienced HGV Class 1 Drivers to work on nights to join a well-established operation carrying out temperature-controlled trunking work with great overtime rate after 9.4 hours

Key Responsibilities

• Complete temperature-controlled deliveries safely and efficiently.
• Trunk loads between RDCs and NDCs, with no multi-drop deliveries.
• Seal and unseal vehicle rear doors in accordance with company procedures.
• Monitor refrigeration units throughout each journey and ensure required temperatures are maintained.
• Report any temperature discrepancies or refrigeration issues promptly to the depot.
• Safely couple and uncouple trailers in line with company procedures.
• Supervise the loading and unloading of goods.
• Maintain accurate delivery paperwork, records and documentation.
• Carry out all duties in accordance with road transport legislation, company policies and health & safety procedures.
• Complete vehicle and trailer checks and report any defects or issues appropriately.

Duration: Temporary but permanent for the correct driver

Contract Type: Temporary

Hourly Rate: You’ll earn £22.64 PAYE p/h as a night rate and the night overtime rate is £28.25 which is payable after you have worked 9.6 hours.The Saturday rate is £28.25 p/h PAYE, and the Sunday rate is £39.62 p/h PAYEYou have a holiday entitlement of up to 28 days (pro rata).

Working Hours: The Night rate for this position is chargeable for shifts that start between 22:00 and 06:00Shift lengths are approximately 10 hours.

Experience & Qualifications

• A full UK Drivers Licence with a HGV1 (C+E) entitlement.
• A minimum of 12 months continuous experience driving articulated lorries in the UK
• a valid Digi card
• a valid Driver CPC Card
• a good understanding of driver’s working hours and working time directive and understanding of how to avoid infringements.

You must not have any more than 6 points on your licence
