Job summary

Motorpoint is seeking a skilled Warranty Technician to join our Edinburgh workshop. The role focuses on diagnosing advanced faults, performing major mechanical repairs, and ensuring repairs meet manufacturer standards.

You will document findings for warranty submissions, liaise with customers to explain diagnostics, and mentor junior technicians while maintaining DVSA and Health & Safety compliance. The ideal candidate holds IMI Level 3 and has experience with diagnostics.

Qualifications

• IMI Level 3 qualified technician.
• Proven experience in advanced vehicle repairs and diagnostics.
• Strong communication skills, especially with customers.
• High level of accuracy in administration and documentation.
• MOT testing qualification (or willingness to support).
• Proactive, reliable team player who takes pride in their work.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve advanced faults using OEM diagnostic platforms and tools.
• Perform major mechanical repairs including engine and gearbox replacements.
• Conduct root cause analysis and ensure repairs meet manufacturer standards.
• Use specialist equipment (oscilloscopes, multi-meters, smoke testers) for testing.
• Complete final road tests, re-calibrations, and system resets.
• Accurately document findings and repairs for warranty submissions.
• Liaise with customers to explain diagnostics and build trust.
• Support MOT testing and Pre-Delivery Inspections as needed.
• Mentor junior technicians and share best practices.
• Maintain workshop standards and comply with DVSA and Health & Safety.
