Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a Level 3 Teaching Assistant for a SEND secondary school in Oldbury. The role is full-time and long-term with a September start, supporting students with autism and complex needs to boost engagement, independence and progress.

You will work closely with teaching staff, delivering high-quality support both inside and outside the classroom while building positive relationships with students and families.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly autism and complex needs
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
• Experience supporting students with communication and behaviour needs
• A patient, caring and proactive approach
• A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential

Responsibilities

• Support secondary-aged students with autism, complex needs, communication needs and behaviour needs, working closely with teaching staff to deliver high-quality support both inside and outside the classroom while encouraging student engagement, independence and progress.
• Support learning activities, monitor progress, and adapt strategies to meet individual needs as part of a dedicated SEND team.

The school provides outstanding support for students with autism, physical disabilities, sensory impairments and complex medical needs, while promoting independence, purposeful choice and celebrating every individual's achievements within a student-centred, family-focused environment.

The school is looking to appoint a dedicated Level 3 Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis from September. The successful Level 3 Teaching Assistant will support secondary-aged students with autism, complex needs, communication needs and behaviour needs, working closely with teaching staff to deliver high-quality support both inside and outside the classroom while encouraging student engagement, independence and progress.

The successful Level 3 Teaching Assistant will have:

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly autism and complex needs
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
• Experience supporting students with communication and behaviour needs
• A patient, caring and proactive approach
• A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential
