Job summary

North Tyneside Council is recruiting a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to work 37 hours per week, term-time only. The post carries a Grade 5 salary of £27,274–£28,153 pro rata.

The role supports 16-24 year olds with Education & Health Care (EHC) plans, working with tutors to deliver personalised support under the direction of our HLTA and teaching team. You will assist with planning cycles, resource management, and may supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absences.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualifications.
• Experience with young people with additional needs and/or EHC plans is preferred.
• Ability to work with learners and tutors, and to act on own initiative within supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist tutors in the management of students in the classroom and beyond, including breaks and enrichment.
• Support planning cycles and resource preparation for lessons.
• Supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absence when required.
