Job summary

Oasis Academy Fir Vale is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a diverse, inclusive primary school setting in Sheffield. You will work closely with teachers to deliver engaging activities, monitor progress, and support safeguarding and wellbeing.

The role emphasises collaboration with families, outside agencies and staff to remove barriers to learning and to help pupils reach their full potential. A Level 3 TA qualification and strong literacy/numeracy are required.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
• Good literacy and numeracy skills
• Experience supporting learning in a primary school
• Experience with SEND, EAL and additional learning needs
• Understanding of inclusive practice and removing barriers to learning
• Confidence using ICT to support teaching and assessment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build productive relationships with pupils, staff and parents
• Strong organisational skills and flexible in responding to school needs
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, inclusion and Oasis values

Responsibilities

• Build positive relationships with pupils and act as a trusted role model.
• Provide targeted support for pupils including SEND, EAL and additional learning needs.
• Support pupil safety, wellbeing, personal care and emotional development.
• Promote inclusion and ensure access to learning opportunities.
• Support implementation of IEPs, EHCPs and personalised learning plans.
• Deliver structured interventions and learning activities addressing needs.
• Monitor, assess, and report pupil achievement and progress.
• Encourage independence, resilience, self-esteem and positive attitudes to learning.
• Share effective EAL strategies with colleagues to improve outcomes.
• Provide feedback to pupils and contribute to discussions with parents and teachers.
