Job description

We’re looking for a dedicated and compassionate Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Halifax working 1:1 with a child with additional needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about providing tailored support and helping a child overcome barriers to learning, develop their confidence and reach their full potential.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a child with additional needs throughout the school day
  • Supporting the child to access the curriculum through personalised and differentiated activities
  • Building a positive, trusting relationship with the child and providing consistent support
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow individual support plans and strategies
  • Supporting the child’s social, emotional and behavioural development
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive engagement in learning
  • Helping the child develop their communication, social and learning skills
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to the class teacher and wider support team
  • Creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment where the child can thrive
What we’re looking for:
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is essential
  • Previous experience working with children with SEN, ideally in a 1:1 capacity
  • A patient, calm and compassionate approach
  • The ability to build strong and positive relationships with children
  • Good understanding of how to support children with additional needs
  • Adaptable and confident in responding to individual needs and behaviours
  • Ability to work effectively alongside teachers, SENCOs and other support staff
  • A genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential
