Job summary

The Harmony Trust in Oldham is seeking a Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team. Required: NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent, Literacy/Numeracy Level 2, and successful completion (or plan to complete) the DfE induction programme.

Candidates should be aware of children with special needs and have experience with learning resources. Experience caring for children of relevant ages (including 2-year-olds) and strong communication with parents are essential.

Qualifications

• NVQ 3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent qualification/experience
• Literacy and Numeracy at Level 2
• Completion/plan to complete the induction programme
• Awareness of requirements for children with special needs
• Experience with learning resources and preparation
• Experience caring for children of relevant ages (incl. 2-year-olds)

Job description

What skills and experience we're looking for

• NVQ 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experience or willingness to work towards
• Literacy and Numeracy skills equivalent to Level 2 of the National Qualification & Credit Framework
• Completion of Department for Education Teacher Assistant Induction Programme (or to complete within first term)
• Awareness of the requirements of children with special needs
• Experience of working with learning resources and helping with their preparation to support learning programmes
• Experience of working with or caring for children of a relevant age to those in the school (including 2-year-old provision)
• Communication skills to liaise sensitively and effectively with parents and carers
• Basic understanding of a child’s development and learning.
