Do you have a passion for supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and independence, and achieve their full potential?

We are currently seeking an experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Bradford. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated teaching assistant who is passionate about inclusion, SEND and helping every young person succeed.

About the role

As a Level 3 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, the SEND team and pastoral staff to provide targeted support to pupils across the school. You will play an important role in removing barriers to learning, encouraging positive engagement and helping pupils develop both academically and personally.

The school has a strong, caring and inclusive ethos, with high expectations for both learning and behaviour. Its culture is built around Respect, Growth and Community, with a clear commitment to helping young people become confident, resilient, ambitious and responsible members of society.

You will be joining a school that values relationships, personal development and achievement, while recognising that every pupil has different strengths, needs and starting points.

Key responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils, including those with SEND and additional learning needs
  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and appropriately differentiated learning activities
  • Help pupils overcome barriers to learning and develop greater confidence, independence and resilience
  • Support pupils with literacy, numeracy, communication and wider learning skills
  • Implement individual strategies and support plans to meet pupils’ specific needs
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement in learning
  • Encourage pupils to develop positive attitudes towards education and their own personal development
  • Support pupils who may experience difficulties with concentration, communication, emotional regulation or social interaction
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, the SEND team, pastoral colleagues and other professionals
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide constructive feedback to teaching staff
  • Help maintain a safe, calm, inclusive and positive learning environment
  • Promote the school’s values of Respect, Growth and Community in everyday interactions with pupils
  • Encourage pupils to become increasingly independent and take responsibility for their learning and behaviour
Essential skills & attributes

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent recognised qualification
  • Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational setting
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties or social, emotional and mental health needs, is desirable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive and trusting relationships
  • A calm, patient and empathetic approach, particularly when supporting pupils who may present with challenging behaviour or additional needs
  • The ability to remain resilient and consistent when faced with challenging situations
  • A good understanding of inclusive practice and strategies for removing barriers to learning
  • The ability to adapt your approach to meet individual pupil needs
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively alongside teachers and wider support teams
  • A proactive and positive attitude, with a genuine desire to help young people succeed
  • High expectations of pupils combined with a nurturing and supportive approach
  • The ability to encourage independence rather than creating over-reliance on adult support
  • Flexibility, initiative and a willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school
The school ethos

This is a school where every pupil is encouraged to believe in their potential and strive for personal and academic success.

The school places particular importance on Respect, Growth and Community, promoting high standards while supporting pupils to develop resilience, confidence, ambition and strong character.

For a Teaching Assistant, this means being part of a team that believes in high expectations, positive relationships and giving every young person the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their starting point.
