Job summary

Barnsley Recruitment Services LTD is looking for an experienced Level 3 HGV Technician to join a busy commercial vehicle workshop in the Glasgow area. You will perform routine servicing, diagnostics and repairs, and contribute to MOT preparation and safety checks.

The role requires a Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair and a strong background with HGVs or commercial vehicles. A UK driving licence is essential, with an HGV licence advantageous.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair is required.
• Experience with HGVs, LGVs or commercial vehicles.
• Ability to diagnose faults across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Experience with gearbox repairs, engine rebuilds and major component overhauls.
• Full UK driving licence; HGV licence beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• HGV maintenance — routine servicing, inspections and safety checks.

• Repairs & component replacement — engines, gearboxes, brakes, suspension, steering.
• Tachograph calibration (if qualified).
• MOT preparation — ensuring vehicles meet DVSA standards.
• Breakdown support — occasional roadside diagnostics and repair.
• Workshop documentation — completing job cards, inspection sheets and service reports.
• Adhering to H&S procedures — maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 (higher negotiable for experience)

Key Requirements
