Job summary

Supply Desk is seeking a caring Level 2 Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a welcoming Watford primary school from September. You will work with class teachers and the wider team to promote an inclusive, engaging learning environment.

The ideal candidate will have Level 2 TA qualifications, experience in primary settings, and a patient, proactive approach. You will contribute to safeguarding, pupil wellbeing and school-community activities.

Qualifications

• Holds a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Experience in a primary school or educational setting.
• Patience, care and nurturing approach when working with pupils.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with colleagues and parents.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher with delivering engaging learning activities across the primary curriculum.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils to develop knowledge, skills and confidence.
• Reinforce instructions, explain activities and offer encouragement where needed.
• Help create a safe, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment where every pupil is valued.
• Support pupils' social, emotional and personal development throughout the day.
• Assist with classroom preparation, displays, resources and general organisation.
• Encourage positive behaviour and high engagement and achievement levels.
• Build professional relationships with pupils, teachers, parents and colleagues.
• Collaborate with the wider school team to support pupil progress and wellbeing.

The Role

• Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, teachers, parents, carers, and colleagues.
• Work collaboratively with the wider school team to support the progress and wellbeing of all pupils.
• Contribute to the wider school community through enrichment activities and school events.
• Uphold high standards of safeguarding, behaviour, and pupil wellbeing.

The Ideal Candidate

• Holds a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Has experience working with children within a primary school or educational setting.
• Is passionate about supporting children's learning, development, and wellbeing.
• Demonstrates a patient, caring, and nurturing approach when working with pupils.
• Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Is confident supporting individual pupils and small groups with their learning.
• Can work effectively alongside class teachers and the wider school team.
• Has a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Is reliable, adaptable, proactive, and able to respond positively to the individual needs of pupils.
