Job summary

Schools Mutual Services is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant for a Newcastle-based school to support learning in the classroom within the coming weeks.

You will help prepare lessons, assist teachers with materials and equipment, monitor pupil progress, supervise activities, and help manage behaviour.

This role offers weekly pay, enhanced pension contributions, access to health and wellbeing services, and ongoing safeguarding training.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or a relevant Childcare/Teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with children in a primary school or nursery setting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare classrooms and materials for lessons.
  • Assist teachers with lesson materials and equipment.
  • Record and report pupil progress to the Teacher.
  • Help pupils stay focused during class hours.
  • Supervise group activities, sports events, and school outings.
  • Help Teachers manage student behaviour.
  • Look after children who are unwell or upset.
  • Provide a healthy and safe learning environment.

The service provides supply and recruitment services to education establishments across the country.

Our member school based in Newcastleis currently looking for a Teaching Assistant to join their team within the coming weeks.

Your responsibilities as a Teaching Assistant
  • Getting the classroom ready for lessons and clearing away afterwards to maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Assisting Teachers in preparing the lesson materials and school equipment
  • Recording and reporting a pupil s progress to the Teacher
  • Helping pupils stay focused during class hours.
  • Supervising group activities, sports events, and school outings
  • Helping Teachers manage student behaviour.
  • Looking after children who are unwell or upset.
  • Providing a healthy and safe learning environment for children
Qualifications and Experience Required:
  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or a relevant Childcare / Teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with children in a primary school or nursery setting.
