Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting for a Level 2 Teaching Assistant (SEND & SEMH Experience) to join a welcoming primary school in Runcorn on a full-time, temporary basis. You will work 1:1 and in small groups to support pupils with SEND/SEMH, under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO.

The role focuses on enabling pupils to access learning, develop confidence and progress. You’ll need prior experience in SEND/SEMH, strong behaviour management, and excellent communication and teamwork to succeed.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH in a primary setting.
  • Strong behaviour management and a calm, patient approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND and SEMH.
  • Support pupils inside and outside the classroom to promote engagement and positive behaviour.
  • Assist with planning and delivery of tailored learning activities.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to reviews and support plans.
  • Promote a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Level 2 Teaching Assistant (SEND & SEMH Experience)

Salary: Dependent on experience

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school seeking to appoint a dedicated Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, on a temporary basis.

The successful candidate will have experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to provide high-quality support, helping pupils access learning, develop confidence and achieve their full potential.

The role will involve:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
  • Supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom to promote engagement and positive behaviour.
  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of tailored learning activities.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Monitoring pupil progress and contributing to reviews and support plans.
  • Promoting a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working within a primary school setting.
  • Experience supporting children with SEND, including SEMH needs.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, patient approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children to achieve their best.
