Job summary

Kepak is recruiting a Level 2 Butcher Apprentice in Bodmin to train in meat processing, trimming and knife skills. You will learn under a trainer, handle bone trimming, primal cuts and VL trimming, and gain strong foundations in food safety and health and safety within the meat industry.

This apprenticeship offers hands-on experience in a real production environment, with guidance to develop practical skills and compliance with quality standards.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship role in meat processing industry.
• Learning under trainer and developing practical skills.
• On-the-job training in meat trimming, knife handling and safety.

Responsibilities

• Knife sharpening and preparation of meat according to specs.
• Trim bones and primal cuts to customer or company specs.
• Ensure VLs (Visual Lean) are maintained in trimmed products.
• Trim primals to spec under supervision.
• Maintain high standards of Food Quality, Safety and Health & Safety.
