Job summary

North East Derbyshire District Council is looking for Casual Leisure Attendants (Lifeguards) to supervise pools, changing rooms, sports halls and squash courts across our active centres. This role includes helping swimmers in difficulty, equipment handling and promoting centre activities.

Candidates should hold the RLSS UK National Pool Lifeguard 10th Edition Award, be physically fit, and have experience working in a team with initiative.

Qualifications

• RLSS UK National Pool Lifeguard 10th Edition Award is required.
• Ability to deal with a full age range of customers.
• Good understanding of a wide range of sports and leisure activities.
• Must be physically fit and capable of heavy lifting.
• Experience of working in a team and able to use own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Supervise swimming pools, changing/locker rooms, sports halls and squash courts.
• Assist swimmers in difficulty and ensure safety rules are followed.
• Set out and store equipment as needed and promote centre activities and events.

Location: Dronfield Active, Civic Centre, Dronfield S18 1PD, Eckington Active, Gosber Street, Eckington, Sheffield, S21 4DA and Clay Cross Active, Market St, Clay Cross, Chesterfield S45 9LX

Located at Dronfield Active, Eckington Active and Clay Cross Active, our leisure centres offers a range of facilities including sports halls, swimming pools, health and fitness suites, gyms and squash courts.

The successful candidate will supervise swimming pools, changing/locker rooms, sports halls and squash courts. Other duties include assisting swimmers in difficulty, setting out and storing equipment as needed and promoting the centres activities and events.

Candidates must be sports orientated, have a good understanding of a wide range of sports and activities and must hold the RLSS UK National Pool Lifeguard 10th Edition Award. A formal coaching qualification, together with some teaching or coaching experience would be an advantage.

Although the working hours include evenings & weekends, we are particularly interested in hearing from applicants who are also available daytime Monday to Friday.

To be successful you will need:

• To be physically fit & capable of heavy lifting.
• Experience of working in a team and acting on own initiative.

The successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure carried out by the DBS at the Enhanced Level.
