Job summary

King Edward VII School in Sheffield is seeking an Evening and Weekend Leisure Assistant to support community use of the school site. The role involves reception duties, assisting visitors, setting up and clearing away equipment, and maintaining cleanliness and security across the site.

Shifts primarily cover weekday evenings 6.30pm–10.00pm and weekends 8.30am–3.30pm. The position is part-time, with DBS checks required and training provided to ensure safe, secure operations.

Leisure Assistant


Up to 22.5 hours per week, 39 weeksper year

£13.45 per hour, includingFoundation Living Wage

We have a vacancy for a trustworthy, reliable Evening and Weekend LeisureAssistant to provide high-qualitysupport and outstanding service to our community users at our school site.


The post holder will be required to assistwith the day-to-day operations and smooth running of the facility duringcommunity use hours. This will involve welcoming community users at reception,providing helpful assistance during their visit, and setting up or clearingdown equipment such as goals, nets, and mats. The role will also require thepost holder to maintain high standards of cleanliness across the site—includingsweeping, mopping, and litter picking—and to take full responsibility forbuilding security by locking up, securing windows, and setting alarms at theend of each shift.

This is a part-time position,primarily covering weekday evenings – 6.30pm to 10.00pm and weekend shifts – 8.30amto 3.30pm. We are happy for this role to be a job share or for one person.


Applicants should ideally have experienceworking in an operational keyholder or leisure environment, with 5+ years ofexperience preferred. Because our facility is situated on a school site, it isessential that the successful candidate ensures all areas are left clean,secure, and ready for the next school day. Full training will be provided;however, the successful applicant must complete and pass an enhanced DBS checkbefore working unsupervised.

This post is exempt from theRehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the successful applicant will berequired to apply for an enhanced DBS certificate.
