Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking an experienced Legionella Consultant to join our growing environmental services team, covering London and the South East. The role blends hands-on fieldwork with high-level client advisory, reporting to the Environmental Services Manager and ensuring occupants remain safe and compliant with UK water safety laws.

Based field-based across London & the South East, the salary is £40,000 per annum with typical Monday–Friday hours.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds Legionella Risk Assessment or equivalent.
• Active WMSoc membership.
• Science or Engineering degree.
• Proven Legionella risk assessments across varied facilities.
• Experience inspecting complex water systems.
• Knowledge of UK Legionella legislation and health and safety guidance.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day work will influence client retention and business performance.
• Combine field expertise with rigorous technical analysis to identify, manage, and mitigate water hygiene challenges.
• Conduct end-to-end Legionella risk assessments and safety audits across a diverse client portfolio.
• Translate on-site observations into actionable technical reports and advise clients on risk management.
• Oversee on-site microbiological sampling and water testing with accredited labs.
• Work with external CAD specialists to ensure accurate diagrams are included in compliance docs.
• Manage client site visits across London and the South East with occasional overnight stays for larger contracts.

Randstad are seeking an experienced Legionella Consultant to join a growing environmental services team and play a pivotal role in maintaining our reputation for technical excellence across London and the South East.

This position offers a balance between hands-on technical consultation and high-level client advisory work. Reporting directly to the Environmental Services Manager, you will act as a key technical representative for the business, helping commercial and residential property managers safeguard their occupants, manage operational risk, and remain fully compliant with UK water safety legislation.

Location: Field-based across London & the South East

Salary: 40,000 per annum

Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm

Responsibilities

• combine field expertise with rigorous technical analysis to ensure complex water hygiene challenges are identified, managed, and mitigated efficiently.


• conduct end-to-end Legionella risk assessments and safety audits across a diverse client portfolio, evaluating both domestic hot and cold water systems as well as complex evaporative cooling towers.


• Translate on-site observations into clear, actionable technical reports, you will advise clients on risk management strategies while maintaining agreed delivery deadlines and high quality standards.


• oversee on-site microbiological sampling and water testing, coordinating with accredited laboratory partners to deliver clear, data-driven outcomes to our stakeholders.


• Work alongside external CAD specialists, ensure accurate system schematic diagrams are integrated smoothly into final compliance documentation.


• Manage client site visits across London and the South East, maintaining flexible scheduling with occasional pre-planned overnight stays when supporting larger regional contracts.

Qualifications & Accreditations

• A City & Guilds qualification in Legionella Risk Assessment (or a recognized equivalent industry standard).


• Active professional membership with The Water Management Society (WMSoc).


• A relevant academic degree in a Science or Engineering discipline.


• A proven track record in conducting Legionella risk assessments across varied commercial, industrial, or residential facilities.


• Direct hands-on experience inspecting both complex domestic water infrastructure and evaporative cooling systems.


• In-depth working knowledge of current UK Legionella legislation, codes of practice, and health and safety guidance.
