The Legal Counsel position will provide expert legal advice and support within the energy & utilities industry, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Description

The Legal counsel position will hold the following responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for the development of several projects
  • Manage projects from pre-application through to completion
  • Advising on acquisitions, consenting and engagement strategies, environmental impact assessments habitats regulations and DCO implementation
  • Work with the wider project team for the submission of Development Consent Orders
  • Respond to requests under the Freedom of Information Act
  • Provide comprehensive legal advice to internal stakeholders on a variety of matters
  • Work with the team to manage and mitigate risks
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and corporate policies
  • Support projects and transactions by providing timely and accurate legal input
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory developments

Profile

A successful Legal Counsel should have:

  • Qualified solicitor status or equivalent legal qualification
  • 3 years+ of relevant post qualification experience
  • Prior experience and understanding of Development Consent Orders is essential
  • A strong understanding of regulatory frameworks relevant to the industry
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a practical and solutions-focused approach
  • Outstanding attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Strong communication skills to liaise confidently with stakeholders at all levels
