Location: Esher, UK or Cape Town, South Africa

At Healix International, we provide best-in-class global health, travel risk management and security solutions that help people stay safe and supported wherever they are in the world. As our business continues to grow internationally, we are looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to join our team in either Esher or Cape Town.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded legal professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, international environment and wants to play a key role in supporting business growth, managing legal risk and influencing strategic decision-making across a global organisation.

The Role

As Legal Counsel, you will provide practical, commercially focused legal advice across the Healix Group, supporting a broad range of business functions and stakeholders. You will be responsible for drafting, reviewing and negotiating a diverse range of commercial agreements, ensuring legal compliance and helping the business achieve its strategic objectives while effectively managing risk.

Working closely with teams across Sales, Procurement, Operations and Senior Leadership, you will act as a trusted advisor on contractual, corporate and commercial matters while serving as the primary liaison with external legal counsel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including:
    • Client agreements
    • Non-disclosure agreements
    • Services, implementation and maintenance agreements
    • Strategic partnership agreements
    • Assistance, security and medical provider agreements
  • Provide commercially focused legal advice to internal stakeholders across the business.
  • Support contract negotiations and help mitigate legal and commercial risk.
  • Advise on corporate and company law matters where required.
  • Partner with colleagues across multiple business functions to deliver coordinated legal guidance.
  • Contribute to major business initiatives and strategic projects.
  • Support Sales teams with Requests for Proposal (RFPs), ensuring appropriate legal review of contractual terms, compliance requirements and risk considerations.
  • Advise on intellectual property rights, confidentiality, compliance obligations, indemnities, warranties, limitations of liability and insurance matters.
  • Manage relationships with external law firms and legal advisers.
  • Deliver legal training and guidance to improve legal awareness across the organisation.
  • Support existing and future partnerships as Healix expands into new and existing markets globally.
About You

We’re looking for a confident and proactive legal professional with strong commercial awareness and the ability to work independently across a varied workload.

You Will Bring
  • Experience in a commercial legal role, ideally within an international organisation.
  • Strong experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts with minimal supervision.
  • Experience advising on professional services, government or central contracts within an international environment.
  • Previous in-house legal experience.
  • Excellent commercial judgement and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
  • The ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • A collaborative approach and the confidence to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Qualifications
  • Qualified Solicitor with relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Current Solicitor’s Practising Certificate.
Why Join Healix?
At Healix, Our Values Guide Everything We Do
Put People First

We prioritise the wellbeing of colleagues and clients in every decision.

Think Independently

We use expertise, analysis and judgement to make sound decisions and act with integrity.

Earn Trust

We build lasting relationships through transparency, respect and reliability.

You’ll be joining a collaborative, global organisation where legal expertise is valued as a strategic business partner, with the opportunity to work on diverse international matters that make a real impact.

Location

This role can be based in either our Esher (UK) office or our Cape Town (South Africa) office.

About The Company

We offer UK employee healthcare benefits, and travel, medical and security assistance in every corner of the globe. Our purpose is to help people in difficult situations – whether that’s a cancer diagnosis, a need for medical assistance when they’re far from home, or being caught up in conflict or natural disaster. We talk to them, support them, and make sure they get the help they need. If necessary, we’ll pull them out and bring them home.

We’re coordinators and problem-solvers: experts at navigating the global health and security landscape. Our teams of doctors, nurses, travel and medical coordinators and security experts make sure that your people will be looked after, whatever happens supported by technology designed help individuals, not slot them into a predetermined solution.

We work with governments, broadcasters, NGOs, international corporations, major insurers and more. No two clients are the same: we adapt our services to their needs.

More importantly, we adapt to the practical and human needs of the individuals we protect. Most of us are on the front line; we keep our back office lean. We don’t use scripts, and we don’t time calls. We never lose sight of the fact that we’re dealing with real people.

Company Culture

Instead, we focus on ensuring our highly trained specialists have the space and time they need to be effective. We let them use their initiative to get the job done, because the situations they face often throw up unexpected challenges – and no protocol survives contact with the real world.

Our clients have thousands of employees and customers, at home and abroad, so they need a business big enough to handle any situation. But they chose Healix because they also need an organisation that’s personal enough to care.

Our people are driven to do things in the best way, not the way they have always been done. We work hard, and our efforts are rewarded with great development opportunities and a supportive team spirit.

We want to nurture this friendly and dynamic company culture so that we can continue to attract diverse talent with a breadth of knowledge and world-class skills. As a part of Healix, you can expect a range of excellent benefits and an environment where people really do care.
