Job description

These are exciting times at ARAG, as we are experiencing positive business change and sustained growth across our Legal Advice teams. We now have Legal Advice Paralegal opportunities available in our central Bristol office.

As a Legal Advice Paralegal, you will provide a professional legal advice service to both our commercial and personal customers. Your role involves handling customer queries across various legal areas by establishing the facts, providing legal advice, and outlining available legal and practical options, including funding sources and resolution strategies.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Managing customer experience professionally, maintaining engagement, managing expectations, and exceeding service levels.
  2. Informing customers about funding opportunities and benefits available through their Legal Expenses Insurance or private funding.
  3. Communicating clearly, concisely, and honestly while being sensitive and empathetic to customer and business partner needs.
  4. Understanding and complying with SRA regulations and statutory obligations.
  5. Staying updated on regulatory changes and legal updates relevant to the Legal Advice Service.

This role offers exposure to various legal areas, making it a diverse, customer-facing position that will develop your legal knowledge and expertise.

You should be proactive in identifying issues and solutions, taking ownership, and presenting legal advice clearly and empathetically.

Key candidate requirements:

  • Law Graduate (Legal Executive, LPC, BVC, LLB) – essential
  • Postgraduate legal qualification(s) and/or relevant legal experience
  • Knowledge of areas such as Employment, Property, Consumer Law, with the ability to learn others like Family, Wills & Probate, Landlord & Tenant, and Commercial Law
  • Exceptional telephone manner, honesty, empathy, and sensitivity
  • Teamwork skills and a customer-focused approach
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
