Job description

We're a forward-thinking law firm with multiple offices across the UK, providing legal expertise and commercial advice across various sectors, including Real Estate. We are seeking a Legal Assistant to join our large Residential Real Estate team in Newcastle on a full-time, permanent basis.

The team

Our Residential team is one of the largest of its kind, supporting clients in projects involving Registered Providers in the affordable housing sector, PLC and regional house builders, PRS investors, and land-owners, focusing on residential and mixed-use developments for build-to-rent and build-for-sale sectors.

The role

This role involves working on a range of matters, including housing and leasehold management issues such as shared ownership and right to buy, for developers, investors, or affordable housing clients. You will ensure new files are opened correctly, comply with internal processes and client requirements, and produce initial correspondence. As you develop your knowledge, there will be opportunities to take on more complex responsibilities.

The role also includes:

  • Assisting with post-completion work
  • Preparing and submitting Land Registry applications
  • Obtaining official copies from the Land Registry and conducting land charges searches
  • Preparing financial payment forms
  • Assisting with the preparation of completion statements
  • Ensuring client files are compliant with the Solicitors Regulation Authority
  • Communicating with clients and solicitors to update or chase information
  • Preparing and issuing correspondence and legal documents
  • Checking file ledger balances and closing client files
What are we looking for?

This is a great opportunity for someone progressing in their Legal Admin career or a graduate aiming to enter the legal profession. You should have a strong team ethic, excellent attention to detail, and strong organizational skills to meet deadlines. Prior real estate experience is advantageous but not essential. Essential skills include strong IT skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) and excellent communication skills.

Minimum requirements:

  • Good academic record from school, university, or other studies
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with attention to detail
  • Good prioritization skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Experience working in an office environment
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
