About the role
The post holder will contribute to teaching at undergraduate level, with approximately contact hours per year. They will primarily teach Spanish language but may also teach Spanish literature, history, film, or culture based on their expertise and departmental needs. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering seminars, tutorials, and lectures as assigned by the Programme Director of SPLAS and the Head of Department of SELCS-CMII. Participation in departmental events and contribution to the department's intellectual life are expected. The role allows for 15% of working hours to be devoted to scholarship and research, with opportunities to engage in research clusters, seminars, public engagement, and other projects. About you
The ideal candidate will have a postgraduate qualification (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Spanish Teaching as an Additional Language and/or Spanish Linguistics. Knowledge of language assessment and competence standards in the UK and Europe is required. Experience in classroom-based language teaching, assessing Spanish language at university level, including grammar, oral classes, and translation, is essential. Strong organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines, and interest in teaching innovation, especially in Technology Enhanced Language Learning, are important.
