Job summary

Barking & Dagenham College invites applications for a Lecturer - Step 2 Success to join our team on a full-time fixed-term basis until 2 July 2027. The role focuses on delivering engaging sessions, developing literacy skills for work and study, and supporting learners to progress in Health and Social Care pathways.

We seek a qualified teacher with FE experience, a PGCE or Cert Ed, and a commitment to inclusive teaching, tracking learner progress digitally, and safeguarding.

Qualifications

  • Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed or equivalent).
  • Experience teaching Step 2 Success within Further Education.
  • Ability to teach across all levels and have industry background.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Ability to differentiate effectively for mixed-ability groups.
  • Experience tracking and monitoring learner progress using digital systems.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and learner wellbeing.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Lecturer - Step 2 Success, you will deliver engaging and inclusive sessions to learners, supporting them to develop practical literacy skills for work, further study and everyday life.

Please note this role is 36 hours per week ona fixed term basis until 2nd July 2027.

You will:

  • Develop engaging schemes of work tailored to learners with diverse starting points
  • Use learner-centred teaching and assessment strategies to drive progress and achievement
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback that builds confidence and promotes independence
  • Monitor and track attendance, progress and achievement, implementing timely interventions where required
  • Support learners with varying barriers to education, creating an inclusive and motivating classroom environment
  • Contribute to curriculum development, ensuring provision remains relevant to employment and progression pathways
  • Engage in continuous professional development to maintain up-to-date knowledge of education policiesand practice
What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a passionate and committed Lecturer - Step 2 Success specialist who understands the transformational impact of further education.

You should have:

  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed or equivalent)

In addition, you will demonstrate:
