Job summary

Heart of Worcestershire College invites applications for a Lecturer in Special Educational Needs (SEN). The post focuses on planning and delivering SEN curricula, with emphasis on inclusive teaching and safeguarding.

You will contribute to quality assurance, monitor progress, and provide timely feedback to learners across our campuses. The successful candidate will join a welcoming and diverse community, with opportunities for professional development and collaboration across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare learning activities in line with the curriculum.
  • Deliver effective programmes of learning with strong classroom management.
  • Work with the College and examining bodies, upholding quality assurance.
  • Monitor and assess students' progress and provide feedback.
  • Evaluate learners' work against curriculum criteria and give timely constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate administration to support students and College needs.
  • Undertake continuous professional development.
  • Provide support for students to maximise satisfaction, attendance and achievement.
  • Ensure safe working practices and meet statutory requirements.
  • Safeguard and promote welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults in the SEN context.

Job description

  • Plan and prepare, in accordance with the requirements of the curriculum.
  • Deliver effective programmes of learning, through efficient classroom management.
  • Work in accordance with the requirements of the College and examining bodies, implementing quality assurance requirements.
  • Undertake monitoring and assessment of students' and clients' progress.
  • To evaluate and assess (formative and summative) the work of learners in relation to the curriculum criteria and provide timely constructive and developmental feedback to learners.
  • To keep accurate and effective systems of administration which support the student and College needs.
  • Undertake continuous professional development in accordance with professional development policy.
  • Provide support for students, to ensure the best possible satisfaction, attendance and achievement levels.
  • To ensure safe working practices at all times and ensure that statutory requirements are met.
  • Undertake the duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. To become a Lecturer in our SEN department, we need someone who is experienced in Special Educational Needs, patient and enthusiastic.

The successful candidate will have the chance to acquire new skills and develop their abilities in a wide range of activities.
