Job description

The School of Health and Social Care has an established reputation for excellence in teaching and research. Our multidisciplinary academic community includes occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychological therapists, nurses, social workers, oral health practitioners, and sociologists, all working together to address contemporary health and social care challenges. The School is based at our Colchester campus, offering a vibrant and supportive environment for both staff and students.

We work closely with healthcare providers, professional bodies, and community partners to deliver high-quality education and collaborative research that improves health and care outcomes regionally, nationally, and internationally. Through these strong partnerships, we ensure our programmes remain relevant, innovative, and responsive to the changing needs of the workforce and the communities we serve.

Duties of the role

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Lecturer in Nursing to contribute to the delivery of high-quality nursing education, within our existing nursing team. Working closely with our staff, students and stakeholders, you will play a key role in enhancing students' learning experiences across both academic and clinical settings.

As part of a dynamic and supportive team, you will contribute to the development and delivery of innovative, evidence-informed teaching for pre-registration nursing students at our Colchester campus. You will support students throughout their educational journey, helping them integrate theory and practice while developing the knowledge, skills, and professional values required for contemporary nursing practice.

This Grade 8 ASE (education only) position offers opportunities to engage in individual and collaborative scholarship, professional practice activity, and educational innovation that enhances teaching and learning within the School. You will also be encouraged to explore and develop research opportunities aligned with your interests and expertise.

In addition, you will contribute to the wider academic life of the School through administrative, quality enhancement, and partnership activities.

You will be a current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and either hold Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (Advance HE) or demonstrate a willingness and ability to achieve professional recognition at the appropriate level.

You will have substantial experience in nursing practice and a strong commitment to maintaining professional standards in line with the NMC Code.
