Job summary

Kirklees College is seeking a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering based at the PMC and Engineering Centre. You will deliver apprenticeship training, provide curriculum support and supervise learners toward Diploma or End Point Assessments.

You should have a relevant industry qualification (or equivalent) and experience supporting apprenticeship programmes, with strong prioritisation, communication and engagement with young people. DBS checks apply.

Responsibilities

In the role of Mechanical Engineering Lecturer, you’ll predominantly be based at the PMC and in this varied role you will provide training, curriculum delivery support and guidance to learners who are working towards completing their apprenticeships.

Your key responsibilities will be to guide the apprentice through the learning journey from sign up to completion. This will include assessing apprentices’ progress to knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) following awarding bodies diplomas, supporting them to prepare for End Point Assessments (EPAs). You may be required to assess some work-based skills/knowledge to supplement the college delivery.

Ideally, you’ll have a relevant qualification within the industry (or be able to prove equivalent ability) and demonstrable experience in supporting apprenticeship programmes. It’s important that you’re able to manage your own work load effectively, prioritise workloads, communicate effectively, engage with young people and demonstrate our college values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence in your role.
