Job summary

Kirklees College in Huddersfield is seeking a Plumbing Lecturer to join the Construction faculty. Based at Brunel House, you will deliver high‑quality lessons and practical sessions on plumbing courses from level 1–2, including apprenticeships and adult provision, on a full‑time basis.

You will teach and develop programmes to meet learner needs, creating a positive classroom environment and supporting students as they prepare for their next steps.

Qualifications

  • Ideally Level 3 plumbing and heating qualification with gas certification or willingness to study and/or prove equivalent ability with demonstrable construction industry experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, engage with young people and demonstrate college values.

Due to the continued expansion of the Construction faculty, we are looking for new talent to join a team that has an ambitious culture and a drive to succeed. We welcome applications from both experience teaching staff trade professionals and looking to start an exciting career in education.

You’ll be involved in nurturing and developing the next generation of construction workers on full time courses, apprenticeships and short courses. We’re already a successful college, but we’re continually striving to be better and do better - be part of our story!

In the role of Plumbing lecturer, you’ll predominantly be based at Brunel House and your focus will be on delivering creating, driving and leading on high quality lessons and practical sessions in the workshops. You will be working with and established team and delivering on a range of Plumbing courses from level 1-2 as well as on apprenticeship and adult provision.

Your key responsibilities will be to teach and develop programmes of study to meet the needs of our learners in a variety of trades. The successful candidate will create a positive classroom environment by engaging learners and aim to help our students develop the ambition and confidence in their abilities as they prepare for their next step.

Ideally, you will have Level 3 plumbing and heating qualification with gas certification or the willingness to study and / or be able to prove equivalent ability with demonstrable experience in the construction industry trade. It’s important that you’re able to communicate effectively, engage with young people and demonstrate our college values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence in your role.
