Job summary

Blackburn College invites applications for a Lecturer in Hair and Media Make Up. You will join the Technical Centre, teaching mainly Level 2 and Level 3 Hair and Media Makeup, with a focus on retention, pass rates and student achievement, alongside pastoral support and curriculum development.

You must have a Level 3 or equivalent in an industry qualification, Level 2 in English and Maths, a recognised teaching qualification, and an A1 Assessors qualification (or be willing to work towards).

Qualifications

• Level 3 or equivalent in an industry-relevant qualification.
• Level 2 in English and Maths or equivalent.
• Recognised teaching qualification and willingness to work towards A1 if not held.

Responsibilities

• Teach predominantly Level 2 and Level 3 Hair and Media Makeup courses.
• Contribute to curriculum design/development and quality provision.
• Support retention, pass rates and student achievement; provide pastoral support.

Job description

Lecturer in Hair and Media Make Up

Salary £28,273 - £42,655 gross per annum pro rata

Part-Time 18.5hrs

Temporary until 17th December 2027 or the return of the post holder whichever is sooner 18.5 hours per week/ 52 weeks per year

The Role

As a lecturer you will be part of a curriculum team, contributing to the growth and development of the Hair and Beauty programmes within the Technical Centre. Teaching on predominately Level 2 and Level 3 Hair and Media Makeup courses. This includes a strong focus on retention, pass rates and student achievement alongside pastoral support, curriculum design/development and ensuring a high standard of quality provision is offered.

What we are looking for

You must have a Level 3 or equivalent in industry relevant qualification, Level 2 in English & Maths or and a recognised teaching qualification. You will also need to have an A1 Assessors Qualification or equivalent (or be willing to work towards). You will also need to demonstrate current industrial experience in an appropriate discipline and up to date knowledge of current industrial practice and have experience of teaching levels 2 and 3 Hair and Media Makeup within Further Education.
