Job summary

Walsall College is seeking a Lecturer in Functional Skills to support our apprentices and work-based students. You will be delivering maths and English at the appropriate level and must be dedicated to motivating and inspiring teaching and learning to unleash student potential.

You will prepare schemes of work, lesson and assessment plans, and provide academic and pastoral support while participating in interviewing, enrolment and induction.

Qualifications

• Teaching Qualification (DTLLS, Cert. Ed/PGCE or equivalent) or commitment to work towards.
• Appropriate subject qualification.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and promote maths and English at an appropriate level for apprentices and work-based students.
• Prepare schemes of work, lesson and assessment plans.
• Provide academic and pastoral support to individual students.
• Participate in interviewing, enrolment and induction of students.
• Use information on students’ starting points to plan teaching and learning.

Job description

We are currently looking for a Lecturer in Functional Skills to support our apprentices and work based students.

You will be delivering and promote maths, English at an appropriate level, you must be dedicated to delivering motivating and inspiring teaching and learning to unleash the potential of our students. You will also be expected to prepare schemes of work, lesson and assessment plans and provide appropriate academic and pastoral support to individual students as required.

Participating in the interviewing, enrolment and induction of students, you will also be expected to use information on students’ starting points, such as initial assessments, to plan teaching and learning.

A Teaching Qualification, i.e. DTLLS, Cert. Ed/PGCE, or equivalent (or a commitment to work towards) is essential for this role, alongside an appropriate subject qualification.
