Job summary

Weston College is opening the Advanced Manufacturing Technical Excellence College (AMTEC) in Filton, Bristol, and seeks a Lecturer in Engineering - Mechanical to join the team on a full-time basis.

The role involves delivering HE Apprenticeships and some FE delivery, with focus on Finite Element Analysis, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Aircraft Structures and Structural Mechanics. Interviews will be on-site at AMTEC.

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification, or equivalent in a relevant area.
• Knowledge of current teaching strategies.
• Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Providing high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across a number of programmes as agreed with the Head of Area.
• Tutorship of students, showing sensitivity to their needs and encouraging the highest possible standards.
• For meeting targets with reference to student progress on programme, for their attendance and retention.
• Providing advice and guidance to students in their progression to either employment or other courses within the College.

As one of the fastest-growing Colleges in the UK, Weston College is excited to be opening the brand-new Advanced Manufacturing Technical Excellence College in Filton, Bristol, which will welcome its first learners in September 2026.

As part of our expansion into our new site, we are looking for someone to join the team on a full-time basis (37 hours per week) as a Lecturer in Engineering - Mechanical (AMTEC).

Interviews for this role will take place on-site, at AMTEC.

As a Lecturer in Engineering - Mechanical, you will deliver units to a number of cohorts of Apprenticeships within Engineering. You will need experience of Finite Element Analysis, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Aircraft Structures and Structural Mechanics.

In this particular role, you will mainly deliver to HE Apprentices, however there may be some elements of delivery to FE Apprentices.

Day to day duties of the role include, but are not limited to:

• Providing high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across a number of programmes as agreed with the Head of Area;
