Job summary

Weston College in Bristol is recruiting a Lecturer in Engineering - Machinist (AMTEC) to join our expanding team on a full-time basis (37 hours per week) at the new AMTEC site in Filton. You will deliver practical machining units in our workshops, provide high-quality teaching, mentoring, and assessment, and guide students toward employment or further study in engineering.

Interviews will be held on-site at AMTEC.

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification in a relevant area.
• Knowledge and experience of current teaching strategies.
• Knowledge of Machining within Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across programmes.
• Tutorship of students and support for attendance and progression.
• Advise and guide students towards employment or further study.

As one of the fastest-growing Colleges in the UK, Weston College is excited to be opening the brand-new Advanced Manufacturing Technical Excellence College in Filton, Bristol, which will welcome its first learners in September 2026.

As part of our expansion into our new site, we are looking for someone to join the team on a full-time basis (37 hours per week) as a Lecturer in Engineering - Machinist (AMTEC).

Interviews for this role will take place on-site, at AMTEC.

In this role, you will be delivering units within our workshops, and therefore a practical knowledge of Machining within Engineering is required for this role.

Day to day duties of the role include, but are not limited to:

• Providing high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across a number of programmes as agreed with the Head of Area;
• Tutorship of students, showing sensitivity to their needs and encouraging the highest possible standards;
• For meeting targets with reference to student progress on programme, for their attendance and retention;
• Providing advice and guidance to students in their progression to either employment or other courses within the College.

Required skills and qualifications

• Degree level qualification, or equivalent in a relevant area.
• Knowledge and experience of current teaching strategies.
• Knowledge of Machining within Engineering.
