Job summary

Inspire Education Group (IEG) is recruiting a Lecturer in Construction and Built Environment at Peterborough College. You will deliver high-quality teaching across Technical Construction courses and support learners to develop practical skills for industry.

We welcome candidates with substantial industry experience and the ability to teach learners from Level 1 to Level 3. A teaching qualification is encouraged; training will be provided if needed.

Qualifications

  • Substantial and recent industry experience in construction.
  • Strong technical knowledge to teach Level 1–3.
  • Level 3/4/HND or degree or professional qualification is essential.
  • Teaching qualification encouraged; training provided if needed.
  • Enthusiastic communicator with ability to motivate learners and adapt to needs.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality and CPD.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality teaching across Technical Construction programmes.
  • Assess student work and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Set, monitor and review SMART targets to support learner progress.
  • Develop engaging course materials and schemes of work.
  • Deliver academic tutorials and learner support sessions.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress and achievement.
  • Support course co-ordination and internal verification activities.
  • Build positive relationships with learners to drive successful outcomes.
  • Assist with work experience placements and employer engagement.
  • Participate in student recruitment, enrolment and promotional activities.
  • Embed English, maths and digital learning within teaching practice.

Lecturer in Construction and Built Environment

Salary: Unqualified: £29,725 - £31,493 per annum + £3,000 Market Rate Allowance (pro rata) - Qualified: £32,429 - £37,527 per annum + £6,000 Market Rate Allowance (pro rata)

Hours: 37 hours per week, all year round

Contract: Permanent

Contract Type: All year round

Location: Peterborough College

In this busy and exciting role, you will play a key part in delivering high-quality learning experiences to students studying Construction and Built Environment programmes. You will teach, support and motivate learners across a range of Technical Construction courses, helping them develop the practical skills, knowledge and confidence needed to succeed in industry.

Working closely with colleagues, employers and industry partners, you will contribute to the development and delivery of engaging programmes that achieve excellent student outcomes. You will support learners throughout their journey, monitoring progress, setting targets and providing the guidance and encouragement needed for them to reach their full potential.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional or existing lecturer who is passionate about sharing their knowledge and helping to develop the future workforce.

What we're looking for:

You will have substantial and recent industry experience within the construction sector together with strong technical knowledge that enables you to teach learners from Level 1 to Level 3. A relevant Level 3, Level 4, HND, degree or professional qualification is essential, and applicants with a recognised teaching qualification are particularly encouraged to apply. For candidates without a teaching qualification, full support and training will be provided to achieve this.

You will be an enthusiastic and inspirational communicator with the ability to motivate learners, promote positive behaviour and adapt your teaching approach to meet a variety of learning needs. Strong organisational, IT and interpersonal skills are essential, along with a commitment to safeguarding, equality, inclusion and continuous professional development.
