Job summary

Bath College is seeking a qualified Carpentry Lecturer to deliver high‑quality teaching across classroom and workshop settings. The role involves practical and theory delivery, assessments and reviews to meet Bath College quality expectations.

The successful candidate will join the CTN - Construction Trades Team and help drive inclusive learning within carpentry programmes. The post requires Level 2 English and Maths, NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry/Joinery, and a L5 teaching qualification or

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high standards of teaching and learning and monitor assessment processes in line with examination requirements.
  • Deliver up to L1, L2 and L3 Carpentry standards and programmes using appropriate teaching methods.
  • Produce schemes of work, lesson plans, assessment plans and learning materials.
  • Plan and deliver specialist sessions in acting while promoting diversity within Carpentry and the College.
  • Co-ordinate and maintain records of formative and summative assessments for the course team.
  • Support the department's vision and contribute to its ongoing success.

Compensation: £30,348 - £40,016 / year

Permanent contract, 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Key Purpose

To work with the Head of Department to deliver a high-quality Carpentry curriculum including classroom/workshop, theory and practical teaching. This role will include assessments and reviews of practical work, that meets with Bath College quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • To deliver high standards of teaching and learning and to monitor assessment processes in accordance with examination requirements.
  • To deliver up to L1, L2 and L3 Carpentry standards and programmes using appropriate teaching methods.
  • Producing schemes of work, lesson plans, assessment plans, learning materials and any other related activities that impact on the effectiveness of learning.
  • Plan and deliver specialist sessions in acting using appropriate teaching methods whilst embedding the promotion of diversity within the Carpentry industry and the College.
  • To co-ordinate and maintain records of formative and summative assessments of students’ learning carried out by the course team.
  • To work pro-actively to forward the success and vision of the department.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Level 2 (e.g. GCSE) English and Maths at Grade C or above
  • Qualified to NVQ Level 3, or equivalent, in a Carpentry/Joinery discipline
  • L5 teaching qualification or equivalent (or willingness to work towards)
