Job summary

Bath College in Radstock, England, is seeking a Lecturer in Carpentry on a permanent full-time basis. The role focuses on delivering Carpentry curriculum at L1–L3 levels, with assessments and lesson planning, in a 37-hour week, 52 weeks per year.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 English and Maths at Grade C or above.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry/Joinery or equivalent.
  • L5 teaching qualification or willingness to work towards.

Responsibilities

  • To deliver high standards of teaching and learning and to monitor assessment processes in accordance with examination requirements.
  • To deliver up to L1, L2 and L3 Carpentry standards and programmes using appropriate teaching methods.
  • Producing schemes of work, lesson plans, assessment plans, learning materials and any other related activities that impact on the effectiveness of learning.
  • Plan and deliver specialist sessions in acting using appropriate teaching methods whilst embedding the promotion of diversity within the Carpentry industry and the College.
  • To co-ordinate and maintain records of formative and summative assessments of students’ learning carried out by the course team.
  • To work pro-actively to forward the success and vision of the department.

Key Purpose

To work with the Head of Department to deliver a high-quality Carpentry curriculum including classroom/workshop, theory and practical teaching. This role will include assessments and reviews of practical work, that meets with Bath College quality expectations.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Level 2 (e.g. GCSE) English and Maths at Grade C or above
  • Qualified to NVQ Level 3, or equivalent, in a Carpentry/Joinery discipline
  • L5 teaching qualification or equivalent (or willingness to work towards)
