Job summary

Wirral Metropolitan College invites an experienced lecturer to join the Games, Animation and VFX team. The role is a fixed-term, 17.5 hours per week, September 2026 to June 2027, with a starting salary of £15,705 per annum.

You will teach Level 2 Games (BTEC) and Level 3 Extended Diploma in Games, Animation and VFX, preparing materials, assessing learners and working as part of a team to monitor and evaluate the programmes.

Qualifications

• BA Hons/BSc in Games, Animation or a related creative subject.
• Cert Ed or PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Minimum level 2 English and Maths.
• Experience teaching Games, Animation and VFX or Games Design in FE (Level 3/Level 2 preferred).
• Knowledge of 3D modelling/animation principles (Blender preferred; Maya alternative).
• Experience with 3D tools: 3D Coat and Substance Painter.
• Understanding of Games design principles and engines (Unity or Godot).
• Experience with assessment and internal/external verification processes.

Responsibilities

• Deliver formal teaching for Level 2 Games (BTEC) and Level 3 Extended Diploma in Games, Animation and VFX.
• Engage with Next Gen Skills Academy as linked partner.
• Prepare learning resources, assignments, and assessments.
• Mark student work and contribute to programme monitoring and standardisation.
