Job summary

Education Partnership North East is seeking a Lecturer and Programme Leader for Animal Management (Bede) in Sunderland. The role combines leadership with teaching, delivering high-quality learning and coordinating the Animal Care and Management provision to support student goals.

You will lead curriculum delivery, work with industry partners, monitor student progress, and contribute to departmental projects while developing your own professional practice in a dynamic FE environment.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Animal Care or related subject.
• Experience in animal care sector preferred.
• GCSE English and Maths at C/4 or above.
• Eligibility for Enhanced DBS check and safeguarding awareness.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop our Animal Care and Management provision while delivering high-quality teaching that inspires and supports students to achieve their goals. The role combines programme leadership and teaching, allowing you to make a real impact on the learner experience and contribute to the growth of the department.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their leadership and management skills, work closely with industry partners, and play a key role in shaping future provision. Role Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across Animal Care and Management programmes, supporting students to achieve their full potential.
• Lead and coordinate programme delivery, ensuring courses are well organised, compliant and responsive to student and industry needs.
• Monitor student progress, attendance and wellbeing, providing guidance, feedback and appropriate support where required.
• Develop learning resources, plan engaging lessons and maintain accurate student records and assessment documentation.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, employers and external partners to enhance the student experience and industry engagement.
• Contribute to curriculum development, student recruitment activities, quality improvement initiatives and departmental projects.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification (or higher) in Animal Care, Animal Management or a closely related subject.
• Relevant industry experience within the animal care sector.
• GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
• Ability to meet the requirements for an Enhanced DBS check.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining current industry knowledge.
• Experience of working within the animal care industry.
• Experience of supporting, training, mentoring or teaching others.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues and external stakeholders.
• Effective organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Ability to motivate, engage and support learners with a range of abilities and backgrounds.
• Good digital skills and the ability to use IT systems to support teaching, learning and administration.
