THE ROLE

The Leasing Manager works across British Land's Campus portfolio, taking ownership of leasing performance for defined assets and customer segments. The role is accountable for five core areas: leasing strategy and business planning, transactions and lease events, market insight, customer and broker relationships, and leasing performance reporting. Through these areas, the Leasing Manager contributes directly to income growth, customer retention and long-term asset value creation.

The Senior Leasing Manager or Leasing Director retains overall accountability for leasing strategy, portfolio performance and delivery. Within that framework, the Leasing Manager leads agreed workstreams and transactions, develops customer and market relationships, provides commercial insight and drives leasing initiatives that support each asset's business plan. The role provides broad exposure across the full leasing lifecycle and offers a clear pathway towards greater portfolio responsibility over time. Success in the role will depend on a team-first mindset, strong relationship-building and the ability to coordinate effectively across the business and with external advisers to find solutions and maintain momentum.

British Land operates an integrated Campus model where Leasing, Asset Management, Property Management, Managed Workspace, Development and Marketing work together to deliver a single business plan for each asset. This includes our managed workspace platform, Storey, which provides flexible workspace solutions for growing businesses as part of the wider Campus proposition. Within this model, Leasing is responsible for understanding customer demand, shaping leasing strategy, executing transactions and providing market insight.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
Leasing Strategy & Business Plans
  • Support the development of asset business plans through leasing assumptions, pricing recommendations and market insight.
  • Develop and execute leasing strategies aligned to asset objectives, customer demand and market opportunities.
  • Partner with Asset Management to identify opportunities that enhance income growth, occupancy and long-term asset value.
Transactions, Renewals & Regears
  • Lead leasing transactions from initial enquiry through to completion, ensuring alignment with agreed asset objectives.
  • Lead negotiations with occupiers, agents and advisers to secure commercially favorable outcomes.
  • Manage renewals, regears and lease events in partnership with Asset Management, balancing customer retention with portfolio performance.
  • Take ownership of transaction delivery, coordinating internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient execution.
  • Support leasing activity across both conventional office products and Storey managed workspace, ensuring customers are matched with the most appropriate solution as their requirements evolve
  • Act as the market lead for allocated assets, maintaining an in-depth understanding of occupier demand and market trends.
  • Monitor competitor activity, availability, incentives and pricing to inform leasing recommendations.
  • Translate customer and market intelligence into actionable insights that support business planning, product development and commercial decision-making.
  • Share market knowledge across the wider Campus team to support strategic and operational decisions.
Customer & Broker Relationships
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with occupiers, brokers, agents and advisers, positioning British Land as a partner of choice.
  • Represent British Land externally and act as an ambassador for the Campus portfolio.
  • Support customer growth discussions, retention initiatives and occupier engagement activities where appropriate.
  • Develop relationships with brokers, occupiers and advisers across both conventional leasing and flexible workspace channels, supporting customer acquisition and growth through the Storey proposition
Cross-Functional Delivery
  • Adopt a team-first approach, building trusted relationships and working closely with Asset Management, Managed Workspace, Property Management, Development and Marketing to deliver a joined-up customer experience.
  • Ensure leasing activity supports broader campus priorities, asset objectives and customer outcomes.
  • Contribute market and customer insight to inform development, repositioning and product initiatives across the portfolio.
  • Communicate clearly and coordinate effectively across internal teams and external advisers, bringing people together to resolve challenges and support delivery of a single asset business plan.
  • Maintain accurate leasing pipelines, forecasts and transaction reporting.
  • Keep Asset Managers informed of leasing risks, opportunities and changing market conditions.
  • Provide regular market updates and performance reporting to support asset-level decision making.
  • Use leasing data and customer insight to identify trends, improve forecasting and support continuous performance improvement.
ABOUT YOU
  • A team-first mindset, with a collaborative approach and a willingness to contribute beyond your immediate area of responsibility
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish credibility and work effectively with colleagues, customers, brokers, agents and external advisers
  • A clear and confident communicator, able to coordinate activity across different teams and stakeholders to support joined-up delivery
  • A solution-focused approach, looking for practical ways to overcome challenges rather than accepting them as blockers
  • Persistence and resilience, taking ownership of workstreams and seeing them through to completion
  • Sound commercial judgement, using data, evidence and customer insight to support recommendations and decisions
  • A proactive, forward-looking approach, anticipating lease events, risks and opportunities rather than simply reacting to them
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain momentum
  • An interest in the real estate and workspace sector and a willingness to build your knowledge of conventional and flexible workspace
  • Previous experience in leasing, agency, occupier-facing real estate or a related environment would be beneficial, but is not essential
  • A RICS qualification, or progress towards one, would be beneficial but is not essential
