Oxfam is a global movement of people working together to end the injustice of poverty.

Are you a technically strong accountant with expertise in lease accounting and financial compliance? Oxfam is seeking a Lease Accountant to take ownership of lease accounting across our global organisation, ensuring compliance with FRS 102 requirements while supporting the successful delivery of a major finance transformation programme.

In this highly specialised role, you will serve as Oxfam GB's subject matter expert for lease accounting, providing technical leadership across a large and complex lease portfolio. You will play a central role in our FRS 102 conversion programme, leading the finance workstream for the implementation of WorkSavi and ensuring its successful integration with PeopleSoft.

You will be accountable for the end-to-end lease accounting process, from lease onboarding, classification and measurement through to month-end reporting, statutory disclosures and external audit requirements. Working closely with finance colleagues across country, regional and head office teams, you will provide expert guidance on complex accounting matters, support key accounting judgements, and help mitigate compliance and financial risk across the organisation.

The successful candidate will combine excellent technical accounting knowledge with strong stakeholder management skills. You will be comfortable interpreting complex regulatory requirements, influencing colleagues at all levels, and driving process improvements that strengthen controls and ensure Oxfam remains compliant, audit-ready and aligned with evolving business needs.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a high-profile finance change programme while helping to shape and maintain best practice lease accounting across a global organisation.

We’re looking for a candidate who cares about Oxfam's mission to end poverty and is personally aligned to our feminist principles and values of empowerment, accountability and inclusion in all you do.

An ideal candidate for the role will also be / have:
  • A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with technical knowledge of financial reporting requirements (lease accounting standards) gained through experience, and a strong understanding of risks and controls
  • Ability to understand and work within a complex, multi-country and multi-currency operational and accounting environment
  • Willingness to engage with new technology
  • Proven experience leading finance process improvement and system implementations, including change management
  • Ability to be self-critical, have attention to detail and be persistent in the face of challenges
  • Have an expectation of continuous improvement with self, the project and the organisation
  • Strong project management and communications skills.
  • Experience of interpreting complex technical accounting matters and of providing analysis and advice to senior managers and non-finance stakeholders, including on statutory compliance and financial risk
  • Experience of producing and reviewing financial procedures, and of influencing managers to adopt new ways of working and maintain standards
  • Able to work autonomously across a combination of routine and non-routine issues, prioritising effectively to meet reporting deadlines

We offer a competitive salary and a range of additional benefits to staff including flexible working options, generous pension scheme, annual leave, additional leave allowances, company sick pay, life assurance and a range of other benefits.

From the day you join Oxfam we invite you to stretch and learn in your role. Our wide range of Learning & Development opportunities includes in-house courses, e-learning modules, on-the job learning opportunities, coaching and mentoring, and much more.
