Job description

Who are Fair Ways and what do we stand for?

Fair Ways is a leading children’s services charity based in the Solent, delivering Fostering, Education, Residential, and Family services. We care for over 400 children, families, young people, and vulnerable adults each year. We are a team that cares about each other and is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of those in our care. We celebrate our staff as the core of our organization, recognizing them as great, the best, or world-class.

Where and when do we need you?

Fair Ways is seeking a Learning Support Worker to join our team at our specialist Autism School in Totton. The role involves supporting various subjects with a primary focus on sports.

We believe in creating person-centred programs tailored to each child's needs, including a unique 'autistic curriculum' that addresses social, emotional, and communication needs, fostering independence and well-being. Many students placed with us have been out of mainstream or specialist education for a long time, having exhausted other placements.

Key responsibilities include:
  1. Supporting the daily needs of the school, including onsite lessons and offsite activities.
  2. Contributing to the achievement of each student’s goals through assessments and implementing Individual Education Plans.
  3. Supporting Therapeutic Learning Practitioners or Teachers in delivering learning opportunities.
  4. Setting a good example and providing support through understanding and proactive behavior.
  5. Working as part of a supportive team with resilience, initiative, and adaptability.
Additional details:

This role is 37.5 hours per week, term-time only.

All candidates must have a full driving license and access to a car. Successful applicants will need to undergo an enhanced DBS check, which will be paid for by Fair Ways.

Desirable but not essential:
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant Award or equivalent, or willingness to work towards it.
  • Experience in a relevant subject area, ideally within education.
We offer support for your well-being:
  • Exciting opportunities and rewards, including staff lotteries and referral schemes.
  • Work-life balance with holiday schemes and flexibility.
  • Health benefits including health cash plans, counseling, and early salary access.
  • Development opportunities like education grants and leadership courses.
  • Wellbeing initiatives, team events, and discounts on gym memberships.
  • Recognition through awards, pension schemes, and community inclusion.

If you're passionate about making a difference, apply today to join our community at Fair Ways and help shape brighter futures!
