Job description

Who are Fair Ways and what do we stand for?

Fair Ways is a leading children’s services charity based in the Solent, delivering Fostering, Education, Residential, and Family services. We care for over 400 children, families, young people, and vulnerable adults each year. Fair Ways is a great place to work. We are a team that cares about each other and are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of those in our care. We celebrate our staff as the heart of our organization, proud to call them great, the best, or world-class.

Where and when do we need you?

Fair Ways is looking for a Learning Support Worker to join our fantastic team at our specialist Autism School in Totton. This role involves supporting various subjects, with a primary focus on sports.

We believe in creating a person-centred programme tailored to each child's needs, using a unique ‘autistic curriculum’ that addresses social, emotional, and communication needs, fostering independence and well-being. Many students placed with us have been out of mainstream education for a long time and have exhausted other placements.

In this role, you will be involved in:

  1. Supporting the daily needs of the school, including providing onsite and offsite support during lessons and activities.
  2. Contributing to students’ achievement by completing assessments and implementing Individual Education Plans.
  3. Supporting Therapeutic Learning Practitioners or Teachers to deliver outstanding learning experiences.
  4. Setting a positive example and offering support through honest, understanding, and proactive behaviour.
  5. Working as part of a supportive, resilient, and adaptable team.

This role is offered on a 37.5 hours per week, term-time only basis.

All candidates must have a full driving license and access to a car. Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check, which will be funded by Fair Ways.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant Award or equivalent, or willingness to work towards one with our support.
  • Experience in a relevant subject area, ideally within education.

We look after our team!

At Fair Ways, we prioritize your well-being and offer:

  • Exciting opportunities, including staff lotteries with prizes such as holiday vouchers and vouchers schemes.
  • Work-life balance benefits like holiday accrual and flexible holiday options.
  • Health and support benefits, including health cash plans, Employee Assistance Scheme, and early salary access.
  • Growth and development opportunities through education grants and leadership courses.
  • Wellbeing initiatives, team-building events, and discounts on gym memberships.
  • Recognition through awards and a pension scheme.
  • An inclusive, diverse community that values your unique perspective.

Benefits may vary depending on the contract type.
