Position: Adult Support Worker
Location: Adult Day Centre
Salary: GBP25,000 per annum FTE, with a GBP500 joining bonus
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (Part-time options: 3 or 4 full days per week)

Role Overview:

Become a part of a dedicated team of compassionate professionals at this adult day centre, assisting autistic learners aged 18 and above. As an Adult Support Worker, your role will be to:

  1. Collaborate with individuals and small groups to cultivate knowledge and skills that enhance learners' well-being, autonomy, and social integration.
  2. Implement behaviour-driven teaching methodologies and interventions that foster positive outcomes and growth.
  3. Facilitate the application of learned skills in real-world contexts, both within our Centre for Lifelong Learning and out in the community.

Key Duties:

  1. Deliver comprehensive support, care, and instruction to autistic adult learners.
  2. Design, prepare, and conduct lessons and activities that facilitate skill and knowledge acquisition.
  3. Provide behavioural support to mitigate behaviours that adversely affect quality of life.
  4. Assist with personal care, empowering adult learners to maintain hygiene standards, including toileting, dressing, and washing.
  5. Encourage participation in social, recreational, and educational activities in the local community.
  6. Support learners in securing work experience and employment opportunities.
  7. Track and monitor learners' progress to provide effective, customised support.

Why Join This Centre?

  1. Attractive Compensation: Competitive salary plus a GBP500 joining bonus.
  2. Flexible Work Schedule: Enjoy sociable hours with no evening, weekend, or overnight shifts. Part-time schedules are also an option.
  3. Generous Leave: Benefit from 25 days of paid holiday (5 days more than the standard) plus bank holidays.
  4. Career Growth: Opportunities for career advancement and regular salary increases in a short period.
  5. Comprehensive Training: Receive extensive training in first aid, safeguarding, emergency medication, and more.
  6. Professional Development: Access to funded and recognised qualifications, including the Care Certificate and RQF Level 3 in adult social care.
  7. Supportive Work Environment: Thrive in a nurturing setting with dedicated colleagues and management, with opportunities to work independently with learners.

What We're Looking For:

  2. Professional, personal, or voluntary experience working with adults or young people with disabilities.
  3. Comfort in working with adults exhibiting challenging behaviours.
  4. Capability to assist with personal/intimate care when needed.
  5. Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
