Job summary

The Supply Register, in partnership with NCG, is seeking Learning Support Assistants for its Further Education Supply Bank across South London. You will work with lecturers and support teams to assist learners with diverse needs, delivering one-to-one and small-group support, and adapting materials to individual requirements.

We welcome candidates with experience in education, health and social care or youth work, who are proactive, patient and adaptable, and who are committed to safeguarding

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to help learners engage with their studies.
  • Support learners with SEND/EHCPs and additional learning needs.
  • Assist lecturers with classroom activities and adapt learning materials to meet individual needs.
  • Promote learner confidence, independence, engagement and positive behaviour.
  • Create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Help learners progress towards their learning objectives.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure learners receive appropriate assistance.

The Supply Register is working in partnership with NCG to recruit enthusiastic, reliable and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to join our Further Education Supply Bank across South London.

You will help learners overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and independence, and achieve their educational goals.

With flexible, sessional opportunities available, you can gain valuable experience across a range of Further Education settings while working around your availability.

About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside lecturers and specialist support teams to provide tailored assistance to learners with a range of abilities, needs and learning requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support to help learners engage with their studies.
  • Supporting learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), and additional learning needs.
  • Assisting lecturers with classroom activities and adapting learning materials to meet individual needs.
  • Promoting learner confidence, independence, engagement and positive behaviour.
  • Creating a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Helping learners progress towards their learning objectives.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams to ensure learners receive appropriate assistance.
  • Following college policies, safeguarding procedures and health and safety requirements.
About You

Essential Criteria

Applicants must have:

  • GCSEs at grades A-C, or equivalent qualifications, including English and Maths where required for the role.
  • Experience supporting learners or individuals in an educational, care, youth work or similar support setting.
  • An understanding of SEND, additional learning needs and inclusive support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive, professional relationships with learners and colleagues.
  • A patient, empathetic and learner-centred approach.
  • The ability to adapt to different environments and respond to individual needs.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Reliability, flexibility and a professional attitude.
Desirable Criteria
  • A qualification in Learning Support, Education, Health and Social Care, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working within a Further Education college.
  • Experience supporting learners with EHCPs, disabilities or complex additional needs.
  • Knowledge of strategies that promote independence, engagement and positive behaviour.
